Slipping Through

He left behind his bag of diamonds.

Never to return.

Not a care.

Nor concern

Or worry at all.

That his bag of diamonds

May still await return.

Instead,

He Lives mindlessly

Doing everything

BUT

Impress the girl.

Money and gifts

Don’t mean a thing

If the actions aren’t

True at heart.

All the while

Not retrieving

The precious jewel he’s left behind.

For it sparkles gracefully within the sunset

A gem one doesn’t want lost.

Alas!

He lets it slip through his fingers.

As he prioritizes

The rocks in the pond.
